Jing Energy:
What it is and why you should really, really care
Jing is what’s commonly referred to in Ancient, traditional Chinese Medicine as primal life force that resides in the kidneys/lower back. It exists in all living beings and is our inherent genetic stock.
Jing is a core determining factor of our potential for a long life. There are two types; pre and post natal Jing. What you were given at birth and what you acquire or lose over your lifetime.
The amount of Prenatal Jing/ “congenital constitution” (what you were born with) will determines the power + length of your life. How strong or weak was your mother when she was pregnant with you? this matters.
The Holy Trinity of Vital Life Force Energy
Jing - as you’ll discover throughout my work here because it’s a potent and pertinent factor in claiming agency over your life and legacy - is a part of a holy trinity of intelligence with the Human Body. In Classical Chinese Medicine texts, its referred to as “The Tree Treasures”
I will also be covering Shen in great detail in future posts because its a critically missing piece in our healing paradigms, along with Jing.
Jing Governs Willpower/”Zhi”
Zhi, the spirit of the Water element/kidneys, is referred to as “Will power”, ambition, purpose, and destiny and is defined very differently in Eastern medicine than it is in Western. Willpower governs the spirit and is NOT controlled by the mind as in western medicine.
Zhi is the force that to find and forge along your destined path without much conscious thought or effort (Wu Wei - don’t worry ill cover Wu Wei and more on Ahi in future articles)
It’s know as the innate power of life itself – life that wants to live through us without force, but intrinsic power. A potent energy for the harsh winter months.
The two Aspects of Zhi
The Yang Will: A person’s Fire/force of nature that moves through us, propelling us forward on our true path. The Yang Will shows itself in decisive actions, commitments, and taking responsibility for one’s life experience (critical for Soul proprietors!) The Yang Will drives how you show up in the world and how effectively you create your reality. Yang Will is masculine.
The Yin Will: This is your destiny; the deep mystery that unfolds throughout our lifetime. The Yin will gently calls us forward without effort, so that we can realize our fate in life as well as death. If strong, we cultivate Wisdom as we embrace the unknown with complete trust. When Yin Will is weak, we feel the intense Fear, because we’re unable to trust the unknown, resisting the unfolding of our own destiny.
This is why I’m so passionate about accessing and elevating our primal life force, fierce wisdom and knowing through God’s creation in our tonic herbal pharmacopeia - tonic herbs have the ability to bypass the physical body and amplify our energetic and spiritual bodies for potent lives + legacies that will get passed down through our epigenetic encyclopedia.
Your can change the story lying Dormant in your DNA - your genes through tonic herbalism and Elxircraft, where alchemy occurs as tonic adaptogenic herbs synergies and become one main element and that communicates with your innate intelligence, opening pathways to healing and expansion.
God’s Will is Ultimate Will
This is where I add my spin on things; God’s will is absolute and of ultimate importance. I see a beautiful synergy in prayer + God based business principles in action, and the grave importance of elevating our body mind’s so we can receive His calls to action. Our will in Chinese medicine - our destiny and the fire that manifests it - can ONLY be realized when we merge our inner physical and energetic work, with the work of connecting to God to guide the business of our lives and the livelihood in our business.
Free will is what allows us to create and be creative, optimally, through God’s will FOR us; because free will and energetic will were granted by God…
1 Peter 2:16
“As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.”
King James Version (KJV)
Jing & Your Kidneys
“The waist is the house of the kidneys”.
Jing resides in the kidneys which store the Jing that gets transformed into ‘qi’ and blood. It’s also the seat of primordial yin and yang which makes the kidneys an essential organ for the production of fundamental substances required for life activities. The kidneys govern the various aspects below:
Organ: Kidneys/Bladder
Element: Water
Emotion: Fear/Trust
Season: Winter
The kidneys govern many things; among them; Growth, maturation and reproduction, adrenal exhaustion/burnout, memory loss, bone and teeth health and the willpower to excel in life along your divine path.
Got Strong Jing?
Then you’re likely to strong like Ox - resilient to emotional and environmental factors and primed for longevity.
The Bad News
All death is ultimately associated with the loss of Jing. Living life in general deplete Jing. All chronic and acute disease diminishes Jing and a vicious cycle can ensue where reduced Jing makes us more susceptible to disease, degeneration and rapid aging.
The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Medicine will tell you that the end of your Jing supply is the end of life itself. Life ceases to exist when the last drop of Jing is expended. All death is ultimately associated with the loss of Jing.
Leaking Jing is the term used to describe what happens when we live too hard, too fast + too furiously. From stress and trauma to smoking and drinking, we create holes in our preverbal boat.
The Good News
The boat doesn’t have to sink and we can replenish our stores of Jing energy through
Diet (tonic herbs, vibrational remedies, clean eating) ,
Exercise (Qigong, prayer, other peace practices)
Lifestyle (Healing trauma, mitigating stress, the two biggies!)
“We’re 80% water; we’re not a solid, we’re a liquid; an information highway that connects us to our highest consciousness. Ask a surfer what he knows about the element of water; and he.she will talk to you about God”
~ Kerry
The Benefits of Cultivating Jing
The practice of cultivating Jing increases life force energy: creativity, adaptability, longevity, resiliency, connectivity to life and others, our purpose + the spiritual energy it requires to truly claim agency over our lives.;
aka, whole and holy-ness.
The Critical First Step
from a Taoist point of view, with a patient or client, is to replenish their Jing and establish "protection” by stopping the leaks and starting to build up the body mind so the breaking down can cease.

Cultivating a Strong Kidney Jing Game
Qigong 1: Stomp your feet slowly and flat-footed. The Kidney and Bladder meridians, which flow through the heel and to the sole of the foot, are related with the feet, stimulating their energy.
Qigong 2: Rub your hands together until very warm then place on lower back (kidneys) and rub in circles. gently tap the kidney area with loose fists (activates and opens the kidney channel)
Qigong 3: Rub every part of your ears for a few minutes.
Sleep: Critical! Must be asleep before midnight, optimally by between 10pm & 11pm. The organs run on a clock & require we’re in recovery mode during those hours or they will continue to deplete and leak energy. 8 hours is not sufficient - it MUST be 8 hours at the right times!
Don’t Just Listen to Your Body: ACT on it! We usually know when our body’s are saying no. But we don’t listen. If we continue to betray our body’s cues, it will continue to betray US. When you’re tired, rest. When you’re thirsty, drink. When you don’t feel comfortable in a room, leave. When we don’t listen, we create traumas that deeply delete Jing energy. Traumas occur when we feel something and suffocate our innate response. L.H.A.I: Listen. Honour. Act. Integrate.
Consume
Naturally sweet foods - dates, fresh fruits (only in summer), raw/organic milk, cashews, and rice,
Naturally salty foods like seaweed, celery, tamari, miso, and, of course, good quality salt itself, to boost your water element.
Black foods - black rice, dark leafy greens, black sesame seeds (very powerful yin Jing tonic), black beans, kidney beans.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
King James Version (KJV)
